Ex-Slovenian President plans to revive Kosovo-Serbia dialogue
Former Slovenian President Borut Pahor drafts a plan to revitalize the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue seeking input from key stakeholders
Former President of Slovenia and candidate for the European Union’s Special Envoy Borut Pahor plans to revive dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
Pahor’s spokesperson, Spela Vovk, confirmed the development, saying that Pahor worked diligently on a draft plan to revive the frozen Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
Before finalizing the draft, Pahor intends “to hold consultations with key stakeholders, including the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, EU member states, and representatives of the Quint countries constituting France, Germany, Italy, the U.K. and the U.S., Pahor posted on its official X.
Pahor, supported by Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon, is Slovenia’s candidate for Special Representative of Slovenia to the EU, replacing Miroslav Lajcak, who will take up the post of EU Ambassador to Switzerland this year.
Tensions between Serbia and Kosovo have recently escalated to different levels.
Developments in the north of Kosovo have strained the Belgrade-Pristina line and undermined the ongoing dialogue process with the EU.
Although talks between the parties continue, no agreement has been achieved on critical issues.
