Donald Trump shot in ear during assassination attempt on live broadcast
Republican candidate and former US President Donald Trump was swiftly evacuated from the stage at a rally on Saturday after gunshots were fired, one of which struck his right ear.
The incident occurred during a campaign event in Pennsylvania, where Trump was addressing supporters. Live footage captured loud noises resembling gunfire, prompting an immediate response from his security detail.
The former president was seen with blood on his right ear as security agents quickly surrounded him and escorted him off the stage. Despite the apparent injury, Trump managed to pump his fist to the crowd as he was hustled away.
Donald Trump’s evacuation due to an apparent assassination attempt marks him as the sixth U.S. president to survive such threats, either during or after their time in office. Throughout American history, presidents including Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, William McKinley, Ronald Reagan, and James A. Garfield have all faced assassination attempts.
The Secret Service reported that Donald Trump is safe and was evacuated from the rally in an SUV. Shortly afterward, Trump’s campaign confirmed that the former president is “fine” and undergoing a medical evaluation at a facility.
Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey, a Democrat, has extended his support to law enforcement as the investigation into the incident at Donald Trump’s rally begins. “I am monitoring the situation at President Trump’s rally in Butler and I’ve reached out to the State Police to offer support,” Casey said in a statement on X. “Political violence is never acceptable, and I am hoping former President Trump and all attendees are safe. Everyone in Butler should listen to law enforcement.”
Following the assassination attempt, Elon Musk declared his full endorsement of Donald Trump for the presidency. Musk also remarked that the last time America had a candidate with such toughness was Theodore Roosevelt.
