Florida Gov. DeSantis acknowledges he could have won the race, but missed the opportunity because he began the presidential race with the incorrect strategy

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis admitted to the radio host Hugh Hewitt on Thursday that he regrets his earlier approach to his presidential campaign, which involved avoiding most media outlets. “We had an opportunity,” the Republican expressed.

Hewitt drew a parallel to DeSantis’s experience in Iraq as a legal advisor to the U.S. Navy’s primary special operations force, SEAL, mentioning their practice of conducting a thorough review after each mission. He then asked the 2024 hopeful about the mistakes he acknowledges making and plans to rectify moving forward, aiming for success in March.

In response, DeSantis stated, “I believe that presidential campaigns heavily rely on media. While spending considerable time in Iowa and engaging with people is beneficial for conversions, the sheer volume of voters necessitates a broader approach.”

“I initially didn’t engage as extensively with the media. I should have pursued widespread coverage, appearing on various corporate shows and other platforms,” he continued.

The governor emphasized that he could have made a more impactful initial impression and reached a significantly larger audience.
