China test-fires intercontinental ballistic missile into Pacific Ocean in military drill
China test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) into the Pacific Ocean on Wednesday, according to state media.
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Rocket Force launched an ICBM carrying a dummy warhead, which successfully landed in a designated area in international waters, CGTN reported, citing the defense ministry.
The ministry emphasized test complies with international law and norms and is not aimed at any specific country or target.
It also confirmed that all relevant countries were informed beforehand, noting the launch was part of the rocket force’s routine annual training plan.
