Chilean President denounces Israel’s attack on Gaza as ‘barbaric’
Chilean President Gabriel Boric condemns Israel’s attack on Gaza as ‘barbaric,’ urges an immediate halt to hostilities, recalling the ambassador to Tel Aviv until the violence ends
Chilean President Gabriel Boric Tuesday censured Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza as “barbaric.”
He pointed to a touching image shared on social media of a baby named Sabreen, who was confined to an incubator after losing her parents and a sibling in an Israeli airstrike on Rafah on April 20.
“We must never lose our shock and outrage at the atrocities committed by the Israeli government in Gaza,” Boric added, expressing his shock.
Underlining that over 34,000 people have lost their lives in Gaza, Boric urged for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Palestinian territories.
Addressing journalists at the presidential residence, Boric stated that the Chilean ambassador to Israel, who was previously recalled from Israel, will not be in Tel Aviv until the violence in Gaza ends.
Boric also added that Palestinians cannot be held responsible for Hamas’ attack on Israel on Oct. 7.
Boric, summoning the Chilean ambassadors to Tel Aviv for consultations on Nov. 1, 2023, reaffirmed the country’s stance against Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza.
