Biden says no plans to have discussions with Netanyahu
Biden indicates he does not have immediate plans to address the Israeli parliament or Knesset
U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed he has no scheduled discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday.
When asked about a potential meeting with Netanyahu, Biden responded negatively, stating: “No.”
He added that the possibility of such a meeting remains uncertain, saying: “We will wait and see.”
Biden indicated he does not have immediate plans to address the Israeli parliament or Knesset.
He mentioned in an interview with MSNBC that he might consider this approach to directly communicate with the Israeli public about his concerns regarding Netanyahu’s handling of the conflict in Gaza without providing further details.
The military offensive initiated by Israel in Gaza following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7 has resulted in a significant loss of life and widespread destruction.
The Palestinian Health Ministry reported a high number of casualties, with a large proportion being women and children.
The blockade imposed by Israel on Gaza has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, leading to severe shortages of essential supplies. Tragically, some individuals in Gaza have succumbed to malnutrition and dehydration because of the dire situation caused by the blockade.
The conflict has forced a significant portion of Gaza’s population into displacement, with many facing challenges accessing basic necessities such as food, water and medical care.
The destruction of infrastructure in the enclave has further worsened living conditions for the residents.
The situation has prompted accusations of genocide against Israel, with the International Court of Justice issuing a preliminary ruling calling for an end to genocidal acts and the provision of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.
