U.S. President Joe Biden is reportedly grappling with the possibility of stepping aside as the Democratic presidential candidate, amid mounting pressure from within his party, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Several Democratic officials have indicated that Biden’s departure from the race could be imminent. “His soul searching is actually happening, I know that for a fact,” one anonymous source revealed. “He’s thinking about this very seriously.”

The 81-year-old president has come under scrutiny following a lackluster debate performance against Republican nominee Donald Trump, which intensified concerns about his age and prospects for November’s election. Despite this, Biden has firmly resisted calls for him to withdraw, asserting that his strong performance in recent primaries and his status as the preferred candidate of Democratic voters reinforce his determination. “I am all in,” Biden declared on Wednesday.

However, internal party dynamics suggest a growing sentiment that Biden’s exit might be a matter of timing. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other lawmakers have reportedly suggested that Biden should step down, further fueling speculation. A Democratic congressional aide noted, “It feels like it’s a matter of … when, not if.”

Multiple sources also reported that US President is to withdraw from the presidential race within as early as 2 weeks.

Currently recovering from COVID-19 at his Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, home, Biden had no public engagements on Thursday following a visit to Nevada, a crucial swing state. Despite focusing campaign efforts on three key battleground states, Biden’s campaign has dismissed claims of an impending withdrawal. “He is not wavering on anything. The president has made his decision,” Deputy Campaign Manager Quentin Fulks asserted in Milwaukee.

Conversely, another Biden campaign official contradicted this stance, stating, “Yes, it’s over. Just a matter of time.”

The New York Times reported that Biden is increasingly acknowledging the potential necessity of withdrawing from the November 5 election, reflecting the growing internal and external pressures he faces.
