AR-15 Rifle used in assassination attempt on Trump at Pennsylvania rally
Former U.S. President Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a Pennsylvania rally, where 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks used an AR-15 rifle as the weapon.
The AR-15 has been notably involved in several high-profile attacks, including the tragic Florida school shooting that resulted in the deaths of 17 individuals.
Described by the U.S. National Rifle Association (NRA) as “America’s most popular weapon,” millions of people across the country own AR-15 rifles.
In a 2016 statement, the NRA highlighted the AR-15’s appeal because of its customization options, adaptability, reliability and accuracy, noting its suitability for sporting, hunting, and self-defense purposes.
