Amnesty International and OXFAM’s Danish branches have filed a lawsuit against the Danish foreign ministry and police to demand the cessation of arms exports to Israel

Nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) Amnesty International and OXFAM in Denmark have taken legal action against the government to halt arms exports to Israel, citing the use of these weapons against civilians on the Gaza Strip.

In a joint statement released on Wednesday, several NGOs in Denmark claimed that some of the weapons and military equipment exported directly or indirectly to Israel from Denmark “have contributed to a genocide,” violating the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The statement said that the lawsuit was filed against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the police to protect civilians in Gaza and to ensure that Denmark does not contribute to crimes against civilians.
