Albania’s opposition supporters protest alleged corruption
The demonstrators, critical of Prime Minister Edi Rama and other top officials, accuse the Cabinet of involvement in corrupt practices
Thousands of opposition supporters in Albania took to the streets Tuesday in a protest denouncing alleged corruption within the government.
The demonstrators, critical of Prime Minister Edi Rama and other top officials, accused the Cabinet of involvement in corrupt practices.
The protest in Tirana saw some participants throwing stones and flares at police officers while others dismantled an iron fence surrounding the main government building.
Despite these incidents, the demonstration concluded without significant escalations.
The opposition’s discontent has been ongoing since October, marked by disruptions in parliamentary sessions as they demand investigations into corruption allegations against the ruling left-wing Socialists.
