AK Party gears up to reveal candidates ahead of elections

Mayoral candidates for 17 metropolitan cities and 48 provinces will be officially announced during the meeting

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) will announce a new date to unveil the candidates for the upcoming elections by this week.

The meeting, initially scheduled on Jan.14, was postponed because of the martyrdom of Turkish soldiers in the region of the Claw Lock Operation.

Mayoral candidates for 48 provinces and 17 metropolitan cities, including Izmir and Ankara, will be unveiled at the AK Party’s upcoming meeting.

Meanwhile, the AK Party is also working on another highly-anticipated manifesto including eight main topics, ranging from cultural and social municipalism and safe cities.

AK Party plans to announce the election manifesto in a separate program apart from the candidate presentation.

The date of the candidate presentation meeting and the declaration are expected to be announced this week.
