Shooting at a New York City subway station results in six people being injured, including one critically

Six people were hurt in a shooting at a New York City subway station on Monday afternoon, with one person critically injured, according to firemen.

The incident happened just before the busy rush hour, and alarms were sent to authorities soon after 4:30 p.m. local time. According to the Fire Department, four people in critical condition, one with minor injuries, and one seriously injured patient were all taken to the hospital. The shooting’s motivation has not been made public.

TV footage showed a massive emergency reaction at the Bronx’s elevated Mount Eden Avenue subway station, which is located around nine miles, or 14 kilometers, north of Times Square in Manhattan.

Following the gunshots, investigators from the police department and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were seen at the scene doing a fingerprint search.

On social media, Kaz Daughtry, the Deputy Commissioner for Operations of the New York Police, advised people to take detours and prepare for traffic in the region saying “We are now on the site of an ongoing investigation at the Bronx subway’s Mount Eden Avenue Station. Kindly stay away from the area.”
