Dublin Airport authorities report that a Qatar Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner experienced turbulence over Türkiye, injuring twelve people

Dublin Airport authorities stated on Sunday that a Qatar Airways aircraft from Doha to Dublin experienced intense turbulence over Türkiye, injuring twelve persons.

On route to Dublin, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner QR017 encountered turbulence. A statement from the airport said that six passengers and six cabin staff members were injured in the turbulence.

Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency medical teams who provided assistance to the injured. Eight of the injured people were then sent to a hospital for further care.

Regarding the event, Qatar Airways issued a statement indicating that a number of passengers and crew members had minor injuries and received medical care. The airline also said that an inquiry into the occurrence is already in progress.

Relatedly, on May 21, a 73-year-old passenger died aboard a Singapore Airlines aircraft, SQ321, due to extreme turbulence. The man had a heart attack due to the turbulence, and despite efforts by the cabin crew to resuscitate him, he could not be saved.

The plane quickly dropped roughly 6,000 feet (about 2,000 meters) before making an emergency landing at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
