US opposes Israel’s displacement of Palestinians amid West Bank assault
U.S. has expressed opposition to Israel’s displacement of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank amid Israel’s ongoing large-scale military assault.
A State Department spokesperson, speaking anonymously, said, “We reject the mass displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank but acknowledge that localized evacuations may be necessary during sensitive counterterrorism operations to protect civilian lives.”
The spokesperson recognized Israel’s security needs, including counterterrorism efforts, but urged Israel to take all precautions to protect civilians.
Concerns were also raised about maintaining stability in the occupied West Bank, where 11 Palestinians have been killed and many others injured in recent attacks.
