Zeynep Celik, Türkiye’s youngest mayor elected at 22, officially begins her duty in Kalkim town, Yenice district, after receiving her license
Zeynep Celik, who won the mayorship in Kalkim town of Canakkale’s Yenice district and became Türkiye’s youngest mayor elected on March 31, has taken office after receiving her license.
Celik, 22, who won the election in Kalkim town of Canakkale’s Yenice district as an independent candidate, went to Yenice Courthouse and officially started her duty.
Celik and members of the municipality council received their official licenses from Ozlem Egemen Cavusoglu, the head of the District Election Board.
Celik, who made a statement to journalists after receiving her license, thanked the people of the town for supporting her.
Celik was very happy with the result. “The people of Kalkim showed her great favor in the elections, believed in me, and trusted me. I will not let this trust go to waste. I will strive to do my best to fulfill the wishes and needs of the people of Kalkim. I would like to thank all the people of Kalkım for believing in me and for their support.”
After taking a souvenir photo with her entourage in front of Yenice District Governorship, Celik went to the municipality building and took her office.
