The World Union of Muslim Scholars praises Erdogan’s refusal to label Hamas as a terrorist group, highlighting his stance as a beacon of support for the Palestinian cause
The World Union of Muslim Scholars expressed its satisfaction with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s refusal to define Hamas as a “terrorist” movement and instead termed it as a “resistance movement” defending its occupied territories.
The World Union of Muslim Scholars released a written statement on the matter.
The statement emphasized the satisfaction with President Erdogan’s opposition to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s characterization of Hamas as a terrorist organization and his description of it as a resistance movement defending its territories.
The World Union of Muslim Scholars also referred to President Erdogan’s remarks on the issue: “This speech is the victory of the oppressed, the fight against the oppressors, the victory of Allah’s allies, and a battle against the enemies of Allah. It has comforted the hearts of all the oppressed in the world. It has announced that Türkiye stands with them and has not changed its direction or orientation.”
‘The strong statements and honorable stance are commendable’
The statement praised President Erdogan’s “strong statements and honorable stances” as commendable and noted that he is also the recipient of the prayers of Muslim scholars and the Islamic ummah.
The statement referred to Sultan Abdulhamid II’s stance on the lands of Palestine and mentioned that President Erdogan’s statements reminded them of Sultan Abdulhamid.
