Ukrainian President Zelenskyy arrives at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul to discuss the ongoing war with Russia and Türkiye-Ukraine relations with President Erdogan
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Istanbul on Friday to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The plane carrying Zelenskyy and his delegation landed at Ataturk Airport.
Zelenskyy, accompanied by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, was welcomed by Acting Representative of the Foreign Ministry Mehmet Zahit Uzun, Zeytinburnu District Governor Adem Uslu and Deputy Chief of Staff of the 1st Army Operation Colonel Ali Ihsan Bulut.
During the visit, Zelenskyy will meet with President Erdogan.
The meeting will address the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.
The meeting will discuss the current status of the Grain Corridor Agreement and efforts to ensure lasting peace in the region. Another item on the agenda will be Türkiye-Ukraine relations.
Zelenskyy’s 2023 visit
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy visited Türkiye on July 7, 2023, and met with President Erdogan at the Vahdettin Pavilion.
Following the one-on-one and delegation-level meetings between President Erdogan and Zelenskyy, a protocol containing the “Cooperation in the Strategic Industries” agreement between the two countries was signed.
Additionally, during the joint press conference, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Türkiye for its support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and the Black Sea grain initiative.
