Ukraine ambassador praises strong Ukraine-Türkiye bonds
Ambassador of Ukraine to Ankara, Bodnar, underlines strong ties with Türkiye, emphasizing mutual trust and friendship
Ambassador of Ukraine to Ankara Vasyl Bodnar emphasized the deep and trusting bond between Ukraine and Türkiye, describing it as the cornerstone of developing bilateral relations.
“The fundamental element driving the upward momentum of our bilateral relations is the genuine and trust-filled friendship between the presidents of Ukraine and Türkiye”, he said.
Addressing journalists at the Embassy of Ukraine in Ankara, Bodnar commented on the ongoing developments in the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the developing ties between Türkiye and Ukraine.
He underlined the shift in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict toward “tactical conflicts” and lamented the decline in global interest in the conflict at a time when Russia’s attacks on civilian infrastructure and destruction of Ukrainian cities continue.
Ambassador Bodnar outlined Ukraine’s ongoing efforts in the pursuit of peace, including plans for a peace summit and the importance of international solidarity in defending Ukraine’s demands for a just and lasting peace.
Providing details on the peace summit scheduled for June in Switzerland, Bodnar expressed optimism about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s participation, given Türkiye’s past involvement in peace-related initiatives.
Sincere friendship with Türkiye
He also mentioned bilateral relations between Türkiye and Ukraine, praising Türkiye’s initiatives to demine the Black Sea and strengthen maritime security.
Underlining the strength of Türkiye-Ukraine relations, Bodnar referred to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Türkiye on March 8 and emphasized that the sincere friendship shared between the leaders of the two countries is crucial for the positive course of bilateral relations.
Cooperation between Türkiye and Ukraine
Bodnar also underlined the expanding cooperation between Türkiye and Ukraine, particularly in the defense sector, and predicted that a major business forum focusing on trade as well as Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts would be held during the Ukrainian Prime Minister’s visit to Türkiye later this year.
Also he informed about a summit to be held in Berlin in June for the reconstruction of Ukraine, in which Turkish companies are expected to participate.
