Türkiye’s supersonic Hurjet to dazzle at Egypt’s International Airshow
After making headlines in Spain, Hurjet now heads to the prestigious Egypt International Airshow, set to captivate audiences with a thrilling flight demonstration from Sept.3-5.
Türkiye’s first jet-powered supersonic trainer aircraft, Hurjet, is rapidly gaining international attention. Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries, Hurjet’s global promotional tour is in full swing.
Fresh from its recent showcase in Spain, the aircraft is now poised to take center stage at the Egypt International Airshow, where it will demonstrate its advanced capabilities.
Egypt eyes Hurjet
Egypt, a nation actively seeking new aircraft in this class, has shown keen interest in Hurjet. During the Airshow, TUSAS will engage in discussions with Egypt and other regional countries, focusing on Hurjet and other TUSAS products.
The airshow serves as a crucial platform for building partnerships and exploring market opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa.
Global giants share stage
The Egypt International Airshow is one of the region’s most prestigious aviation and defense events, drawing top names from the global aerospace industry. Renowned companies like Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, and Dassault Aviation will be present, showcasing their latest innovations alongside Hurjet.
Besides the static displays, the event will feature aerial performances by world-famous aerobatic teams and military air forces, further enhancing its appeal to industry professionals and aviation enthusiasts alike.
Growing demand for advanced jet trainers
The market for jet trainer aircraft, like Hurjet, is expanding rapidly. Over the past two decades, this market has grown to an average annual size of $1.6 billion.
As armed forces around the world, including Türkiye’s, prepare to upgrade their existing fleets, countries like the U.S., Australia, Brazil, Austria, Belgium and the UAE are actively pursuing new-generation jet trainers.
The increasing demand for advanced training platforms is also driven by the superior performance of next-generation fighter jets, which require higher levels of proficiency from pilots. This trend has heightened interest in cutting-edge jet trainers like Hurjet.
Hurjet prepares for deployment
Launched in August 2017, the Hurjet Jet Trainer and Light Attack Aircraft Project represents a significant milestone in Türkiye’s defense industry.
Hurjet conducted its first engine run on January 30, 2023, followed by taxi tests in March and a successful maiden flight on April 25, 2023.
As testing and development continue at a rapid pace, Hurjet is on track for delivery to the Turkish Air Force in 2025, marking a new era in Türkiye’s aviation history.
