Despite objections from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) to the early election rhetoric frequently emphasized by the Türkiye’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), the CHP continues to assert its intention to come to power.

Preparations are underway for the CHP’s extraordinary congress, set to begin in Ankara on Sept. 6.

During a provincial advisory council meeting held in Istanbul, the party underscored its singular objective: Coming to power.

Ahead of the congress, which will take place from Sept. 6 to 9, the Istanbul Provincial Advisory Council convened on Tuesday at the Istanbul Congress Center. CHP Chairman Ozgur Ozel attended the meeting and outlined additional plans.

‘We are prepared to lead Türkiye’

Ozel announced that, alongside the congress scheduled for Sept. 6-7, program congress meetings will also be held on Sept. 7 and 8.

“These two days will be dedicated to developing a program that will not only present CHP’s vision for governance but also outline a future government program. This program will provide a clear vision of how CHP plans to manage the country,” he stated.

Reiterating the party’s resolve, Ozel emphasized, “We are united, committed, and determined. Together, we are prepared to lead this country.”
