Türkiye’s KAAN combat aircraft completes first successful flight
Türkiye’s cutting-edge national combat aircraft, KAAN, made history with its successful inaugural landing at Ankara’s Murted Airfield Command
National combat aircraft KAAN made its first successful flight taking off and landing at Ankara’s Murted Airfield Command on Wednesday.
During KAAN’s maiden flight, test pilot Barbaros Demirbas took the helm in the pilot seat.
KAAN, one of Türkiye’s foremost technology initiatives, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries under the Presidency of Defense Industries, completed its inaugural flight.
Before its first flight, KAAN underwent a series of tests, including ejection seat tests, full-length static tests, inertial and static tests of control surfaces, landing gear drop tests, avionics system tests in the system integration laboratory, and fuel tests. Subsequently, it successfully conducted slow and fast taxi tests on the runway.
With the introduction of KAAN, Türkiye is poised to join the group of five countries capable of producing fifth-generation aircraft.
KAAN will possess the capability to collaborate seamlessly with platforms such as unmanned aerial vehicles, airborne early warning and control systems, as well as other elements slated for procurement.
