Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) experienced an unprecedented surge in applications in 2024.

A total of 44,867 individuals applied for careers in the agency, with the majority of applicants aged between 20 and 30.

The rise in interest is attributed to its successful operations, Türkiye’s growing influence on the global stage and the popularity of espionage-themed TV shows and films.

Application numbers double in just a year

In 2023, MIT received 22,042 applications. This figure more than doubled in 2024, reaching an impressive 44,867.

A significant proportion of applicants were university students nearing graduation.

The spike in interest wasn’t limited to applications. The organization’s official website recorded 5.15 million visitors in 2024, double the traffic of 2023.

Top areas of interest for aspiring agents

Visitors to the website were particularly drawn to sections such as:

  • Career Opportunities
  • Submit Your Resume
  • Intelligence Academy
  • How can you help us?

The “How can you help us?” section, used for submitting tips, received the highest engagement.

Fewer tips, higher quality intelligence agency

The agency recorded 111,425 tips in 2024, down by approximately 21,000 compared to 2023. However, the quality of these submissions improved significantly.

Most tips focused on terrorist groups such as FETO, PKK/YPG, and Deash, enabling Türkiye’s intelligence and law enforcement agencies to conduct successful domestic and international operations.

Multilingual tips reflect global reach

Türkiye’s intelligence organization received 5,163 tips in five languages: English, German, French, Russian, and Arabic.

English was the most frequently used, followed by Arabic.

These multilingual submissions highlight the agency’s extensive intelligence network beyond Türkiye’s borders.

TV dramas, success stories fuel interest

Experts attribute the growing interest in MIT to several factors. The agency’s highly publicized successful operations against terrorist groups and Türkiye’s strengthened diplomatic role in global affairs have inspired young people to pursue intelligence careers.

Additionally, TV series and films showcasing espionage have brought the organization into popular culture, making it a sought-after career choice.

The agency’s secure work environment, professional development opportunities, and involvement in international missions make it an attractive option for young professionals seeking a dynamic and impactful career.

The National Intelligence Organization has become a beacon of aspiration for Türkiye’s youth, reflecting a broader trend of national pride and global ambition.

With interest showing no signs of slowing, MIT’s influence as a career destination is set to grow even further.
