Turkish defense company FNSS has signed an agreement to contribute to the modernization of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces’ BMP-3 armored personnel carriers (APCs), enhancing their operational readiness and battlefield performance.

Strategic partnership between FNSS and EDGE

The agreement was formalized during IDEX 2025, one of the world’s leading defense industry exhibitions, held in Abu Dhabi.

FNSS partnered with EDGE, the UAE’s largest defense and aerospace company, to implement upgrades for the UAE Armed Forces’ fleet of BMP-3 APCs.

EDGE subsidiary AL TAIF, a leader in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for military vehicles, signed a memorandum of understanding with FNSS.

The agreement outlines a collaborative effort to modernize and enhance approximately 615 BMP-3 APCs, ensuring their compliance with current technological standards.

The agreement was signed by AL TAIF CEO Rashed Al Kaabi and FNSS General Manager and CEO Kadir Nail Kurt.

The modernization project aims to equip the vehicles with advanced technologies to enhance their performance and operational efficiency on the battlefield.

“This collaboration brings together FNSS’ expertise in vehicle modernization and our proven track record in maintenance and repair,” said AL TAIF CEO Rashed Al Kaabi.

“By integrating advanced technologies, we aim to extend the lifespan and effectiveness of the UAE Armed Forces’ armored fleet, ultimately improving their mission readiness and performance,” the CEO added.

FNSS CEO Kadir Nail Kurt highlighted the company’s extensive experience in vehicle modernization for various allied and partner nations, including Türkiye, the United States, Gulf countries, and Southeast Asia.

“FNSS provides innovative solutions for vehicle sustainability programs, leveraging its expertise in next-generation vehicle development,” Kurt stated.

“Our capability development and life-extension solutions ensure that these vehicles remain reliable and durable assets, fully aligned with modern combat requirements,” Kurt added.
