Türkiye’s Defense Minister Guler asserts national strength against regional threats

Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler Monday affirmed Türkiye’s steadfast commitment and robust capabilities in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Addressing regional threats and expansionist ambitions, Guler emphasized the country’s preparedness to counter any malign intentions within its geopolitical landscape.
Strategic meeting with military leadership
During a video teleconference led by Turkish Minister Guler, key military leaders, including Turkish Chief of General Staff General Metin Gurak, Turkish Land Forces Commander General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, Turkish Air Forces Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadioglu, and Deputy Ministers Alpaslan Kavaklioglu and Celal Sami Tüfekci, convened to discuss ongoing operations.
The session included comprehensive updates on counterterrorism efforts and strategic directives for future operations.
Reflecting on the Turkish Armed Forces’ historical victories and upcoming promotions, Minister Guler extended congratulations to those advancing in rank and expressed gratitude to retiring personnel for their dedicated service.
“As we commemorate our military triumphs this August, we also celebrate the promotions and transitions within our armed forces,” he noted.
Commitment to national, regional stability
Guler underscored Türkiye’s unwavering resolve to maintain national security amidst a complex and unpredictable global security environment. He highlighted the importance of continuous vigilance and adaptation to evolving threats, particularly in neighboring regions.
Highlighting Türkiye’s strategic and multifaceted approach to international relations, Guler emphasized the nation’s success in fostering trust and collaboration with allied countries.
“Our achievements in counter-terrorism and other operations have bolstered regional trust and enabled new security initiatives,” he stated.
Support for Northern Cyprus, bilateral relations
Minister Guler reiterated Türkiye’s enduring commitment to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), marking the 50th anniversary of the Peace Operation with pride.
He reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for a two-state solution on the island and ongoing efforts to secure international recognition for TRNC.
