The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lately implemented additional measures to combat illegal migration, which have begun to produce results.

The border security measures included the construction of a 1,253-kilometer (778.5-mile) security wall and a 1,283-kilometer route with camera and sensor systems.

Additionally, the finalization of 1,645 kilometers of patrol routes took place.

Some 362 electro-optical towers, 284 thermal cameras, 198 towers with elevators and 139 armored surveillance vehicles are operational around the clock.

These border security measures required an investment of over ₺30 billion.

The controls carried out by mobile migration vehicles, currently numbering 270, resulted in the deportation of 23,000 irregular migrants to 25 African countries via special charter flights.

Türkiye’s “safe, voluntary and dignified return” policy resulted in 680,000 Syrians returning to their homeland.

Around 133,000 Syrians returned to their homeland within the past year.
