Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) official X account shared the moments of Anka-3, Türkiye’s domestically engineered unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which has completed its first live-fire test, striking its target with precision.

This test, conducted with the collaboration of Aselsan and Roketsan, represents a milestone for Türkiye’s rapidly advancing defense industry.

Cutting-edge systems and precision strikes

The live-fire test was carried out using the AF500 electro-optic camera system, produced by Aselsan, and the Teber-82 guidance kit, developed by Roketsan. The UAV hit the target with exceptional accuracy, demonstrating its operational capabilities.

According to a statement by TAI, Anka III boasts a cruising speed of up to Mach 0.7 (approximately 835 kilometers per hour), an altitude capacity of 40,000 feet, and the ability to carry up to 1,200 kilograms of payload. The UAV is also capable of staying in the air for up to 10 hours, making it a versatile addition to Türkiye’s defense arsenal.

Anka-3 hits target

TAI announced that the UAV demonstrated its first live-fire test in a statement they made on X, formerly Twitter.

“It hit the target from the 12th point in the 12th sortie! Anka-3, the hero of the sky, crowned its first shot with victory! Our unmanned combat aircraft Anka-3, a marvel of national engineering and the pride of the Turkish defense industry, has successfully completed its first firing test,” TAI said.

The test conducted by the UAV equipped with an AF500 Electro-Optical camera was carried out using the Teber-82 guidance kit developed by Roketsan, the statement said.

“The superior performance of the UAV in the tests is an indication that it will make a great contribution to our country’s operational capabilities and defense capacity in the future. We will continue to serve our rapidly developing defense industry day and night in the Turkish Century,” TAI said in the statement.

Future of Turkish UAV technology

Anka-3, which made its first successful flight in March 2023, represents the next generation of Turkish unmanned aircraft.

The UAV’s flying wing design allows for reduced visibility, while its turbofan engine delivers high speed and superior payload capacity. With a take-off weight of approximately 7 tons, the UAV is set to play a crucial role.
