Türkiye weather warning: Temperatures to drop below seasonal averages

The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued its latest weather forecast, warning that temperatures across the country will drop below seasonal averages.

Several regions are under alerts for heavy rain, snow, and strong winds. Additionally, dust storms are expected in parts of Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia. Below is a detailed weather breakdown for each region and city in Türkiye:

General overview

The Meteorological Service predicts that the country will experience partly to mostly cloudy skies. Rain is expected across the Southern and Central Aegean, the Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, the Black Sea region, Eastern Anatolia, and the northern and eastern parts of Southeastern Anatolia.

Rain will primarily fall as showers, with thunderstorms expected in southern and eastern areas. In the higher elevations of the Central Black Sea and Northern Eastern Anatolia, rain will mix with snow.

Heavy rainfall is forecasted for some regions, especially in the northwestern and southeastern parts of Eastern Anatolia, as well as the Central Black Sea and Eastern Black Sea regions.

Temperatures to drop, dust storms forecasted

Temperatures are expected to drop significantly in northern, central, and western Türkiye, falling below seasonal norms. In other regions, temperatures will remain near seasonal averages.

Winds will generally be light to moderate, coming from the north. In southern and eastern Türkiye, moderate winds from the south are expected, with short-term strong winds (40-70 kilometers/hour) in some eastern areas.

Dust storms are anticipated in parts of southeastern and southeastern Anatolia. Below is a detailed regional forecast:

Marmara region

Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy, with rain expected in the eastern parts of the region starting tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday).

  • Edirne: 1 degrees Celsius (34 degrees Fahrenheit), 12 degrees Celsius (54 degrees Fahrenheit), Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy
  • Istanbul: 4 degrees Celsius (39 degrees Fahrenheit), 11 degrees Celsius (52 degrees Fahrenheit), Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy
  • Kirklareli: 2 degrees Celsius (36 degrees Fahrenheit), 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit), Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy
  • Sakarya: 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit), 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit), Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy, with rain expected after midday tomorrow (Wednesday)

Aegean Region

Mostly cloudy, with intermittent rain and showers expected in the southern and inland parts.

  • Afyonkarahisar: 4 degrees Celsius (39 degrees Fahrenheit), 7 degrees Farenhiet (45 degrees Fahrenheit), mostly cloudy, with rain and snow in higher areas during the morning
  • Denizli: 7 degrees Celsius (45 degrees Fahrenheit), 11 degrees Celsius (52 degrees Fahrenheit), mostly cloudy, with intermittent rain and showers
  • Izmir: 6 degrees Celsius (43 degrees Fahrenheit), 14 degrees Celsius (57 degrees Fahrenheit), partly cloudy to mostly cloudy
  • Mugla: 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit), 14 degrees Celsius (57 degrees Fahrenheit), partly cloudy to mostly cloudy, with rain expected in the evening

Mediterranean region

Partly to mostly cloudy skies, with intermittent rain and thunderstorms expected, except for inland Hatay.

  • Adana: 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit), 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit), Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy, with intermittent showers and thunderstorms tomorrow (Wednesday)
  • Antalya: 14 degrees Celsius (57 degrees Fahrenheit), 19 degrees Celsius (66 degrees Fahrenheit), Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy, with intermittent showers and thunderstorms

Central Anatolia

Mostly cloudy, with intermittent rain and showers expected throughout the region. Some areas, especially in the northeastern highlands, may experience mixed rain and snow.
