Two humanitarian aid ships, organized by Türkiye’s disaster management agency AFAD and the Turkish Red Crescent, are set to depart for Gaza during the month of Ramadan

Two humanitarian aid ships organized by Türkiye’s disaster management agency AFAD and the Turkish Red Crescent will set sail to Gaza during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in March, delivering various types of aid, primarily food, according to the agencies.

“We had hoped that the conflict would have ended by now, but unfortunately, the situation in Gaza has not shown signs of improvement,” stated Turkish Red Crescent President Fatma Meric Yılmaz to Anadolu Agency ahead of a visit by Türkiye’s First Lady Emine Erdoğan to the Egyptian Red Crescent in Cairo.

Cooperation between the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Turkish Red Crescent has increased. The Egyptian Red Crescent has played an essential role since the beginning of the events in Gaza, Yılmaz said.

He emphasized that regardless of where the aid comes from, the Egyptian Red Crescent provides logistical support, facilitates communication and delivers assistance to the Rafah border gate.
