Türkiye to provide free public transport, highways during Eid al-Fitr

Türkiye has announced free public transportation and toll-free access to certain highways and bridges in preparation for the upcoming nine-day Eid al-Fitr holiday.
The decision, clarifying which services will be free during the holiday, was published in the Official Gazette.
According to the decree signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, public transportation and state-operated highways and bridges, excluding build-operate-transfer (BOT) projects, will be free for a specified period.

The 15 July Martyrs Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge will be toll-free from midnight on Saturday, March 29, until 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2.
Additionally, public transport services, including Marmaray, the Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport-Arnavutkoy Metro, the Sirkeci-Kazlicesme Rail System Line, Baskentray, and IZBAN, as well as municipal-operated transportation services in major cities, will be free from 12:00 am on Sunday, March 30, until 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1.
This initiative aims to ease travel for citizens during the holiday, alleviate congestion, and ensure a smoother transit experience across Türkiye’s major cities.
