Türkiye to host trilateral foreign ministers’ meeting with Bosnia, Croatia

Türkiye will host the Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia on April 12, 2025, on the margins of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, according to diplomatic sources.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Bosnian Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic, and Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlic Radman are expected to participate in the Türkiye-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Croatia Trilateral Consultation Mechanism meeting, which aims to enhance regional cooperation and maintain peace and stability in the Western Balkans.

Türkiye to address rising tensions in Bosnia’s Serb entity
Minister Fidan is expected to raise concerns regarding developments following the recent verdict against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik.
Sources said Fidan will reiterate Türkiye’s close monitoring of the situation and emphasize the importance of preserving Bosnia and Herzegovina’s territorial integrity and constitutional order under the Dayton Peace Agreement.
The Turkish delegation is also expected to highlight that escalating separatist rhetoric and actions in the Serb-majority entity are unacceptable, and that all three constituent peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina should play a constructive role in reducing tensions and maintaining national unity.

Türkiye stresses role of Bosnia-Croatia ties for regional peace
The meeting will also address the significance of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s bilateral relations with Croatia, with Fidan expected to note that strong ties between the two neighbors are essential for lasting peace and stability in the region.
Trilateral mechanism aims to boost regional cooperation
Established in 2010, the Türkiye-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Croatia Trilateral Consultation Mechanism is a diplomatic platform designed to promote regional dialogue, address challenges through regional solutions, and support development through concrete projects.
To date, nine meetings have been held at the level of foreign ministers. The most recent session was hosted by Croatia on June 29, 2024, in Dubrovnik during the Dubrovnik Forum.

Türkiye’s continued support for Bosnia and Herzegovina
Türkiye remains an active proponent of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following recent developments, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Bosniak Presidency member Denis Becirovic on March 14, 2025, and Serb member and current Chair Jelka Cvijanovic on March 22, both in Istanbul.
Erdogan also held phone calls with Croat Presidency member Zeljko Komsic and SDA Party leader Bakir Izetbegovic to express continued support for Bosnia’s sovereignty and constitutional structure.
Türkiye, a member of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina, participates actively in bilateral, regional, and multilateral efforts to sustain peace in the country. It is also the largest non-EU troop contributor to the EUFOR-Althea international peacekeeping mission.
