Türkiye will receive 15 Palestinian prisoners who were deported by Israel as part of a cease-fire agreement, officials announced Tuesday.

The exiled individuals will enter Türkiye via Egypt, where arrangements have been made to provide them with a safe and stable life.

Türkiye facilitates transfer of Palestinian exiles

Acting on the directive of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has initiated efforts to bring the first group of 15 Palestinian prisoners to Türkiye.

These individuals were forcibly removed from their homeland following their release from Israeli prisons under the terms of the recent cease-fire deal.

Authorities have confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the exiled Palestinians can live peacefully and securely in Türkiye.

Security sources stated that the mission to support the Palestinian people within the framework of President Erdogan’s vision of peace and humanitarian responsibility will be continued with determination.

Officials emphasized that Türkiye remains committed to supporting the Palestinian people as part of its humanitarian and diplomatic vision.

Israel’s cease-fire terms and prisoner deportation

As part of the ceasefire agreement, Israel stipulated that certain released prisoners—particularly those serving life sentences—must be permanently removed from Palestinian territories.

This condition led to the forced displacement of a number of former detainees, with some now set to be hosted by Türkiye.

Israel’s military operations in Gaza from Oct. 7, 2023, to Jan. 13, 2025, resulted in the deaths of approximately 50,000 people and left more than 100,000 injured.

Additionally, while thousands of Palestinians had been detained in Israeli prisons for years, an estimated 15,000 Gazans were also arrested during the conflict.
