Türkiye to experience 4 seasons in just 15 days

Türkiye is set to undergo a dramatic weather transformation, experiencing all four seasons within a brief 15-day period, according to meteorological experts.
The weather shift will unfold in rapid succession: spring (March 12-14), summer (March 15-16), autumn (March 17), and winter (March 18-21).
Currently, temperatures across Türkiye remain significantly above seasonal norms. The weekend will bring summer-like conditions nationwide, with temperatures reaching as high as 28 degrees Celsius (82 degrees Fahrenheit) in Ankara and 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) in Istanbul.
“Türkiye is facing unprecedented temperatures this weekend,” said Prof. Dr. Orhan Sen, CNN TURK’s meteorology consultant. “We’re looking at temperatures 14-15 degrees above average across the Interior Anatolia, Black Sea, Aegean, and Marmara regions.”
However, Sen issued a stark warning about next week’s dramatic shift: “Istanbul’s temperature will drop to as low as 8 degrees Celsius (46 degrees Fahrenheit) by Tuesday. Türkiye will experience winter conditions again next week.”
Southern winds to reach 40-70 km/h
According to Türkiye’s Meteorological General Directorate, temperatures nationwide currently hover 12–15 degrees above seasonal averages and are expected to continue rising. Winds will blow from southerly directions at light to moderate strength, occasionally reaching strong levels (40–70 kilometers/hour) in western Marmara and along the Aegean coasts.

The western parts of the country will be partly to mostly cloudy, with light showers expected in southwestern Marmara and around Bursa. Eastern Anatolia will experience frost and fog during morning and night, while avalanche risks persist in the mountainous regions of the Eastern Black Sea and on the high slopes of Eastern Anatolia.
“We’ll experience two seasons back-to-back over the next 10 days,” Sen explained. “Snow will return to Anatolia next week.”
The temperature swing is projected to be dramatic, dropping nearly 20 degrees in some areas. “Such sudden temperature drops can lead to significant atmospheric events,” Sen cautioned. “When temperatures fall by 15 degrees at once, there’s more atmospheric movement, bringing rain. The cold weather will continue for a week.”
Snow is expected to return to Central and Eastern Anatolia, potentially accumulating 10-15 centimeters in some areas, though the Marmara region is likely to be spared.
Sen also warned about dust moving toward Türkiye from the Arabian Peninsula and Africa, which will reach concerning levels during the weekend in eastern Marmara and Central Anatolia before dissipating by Monday.
