Türkiye to continue fight against terrorism in cooperation with neighbors
The Ministry of National Defense reaffirmed on Thursday its commitment to fighting terrorism in cooperation with its neighbors.
“We are conducting positive and coordinated efforts with Iraqi authorities and regional administration,” read the statement issued by the Ministry of National Defense.
“The technical work for establishing the Joint Operations Center will also proceed without problems,” the statement added.
Current status of joint operations center with Iraq
Responding to questions about the latest status of the efforts towards establishing a Joint Operations Center with Iraq, ministry sources said:
Our fight against terrorism on the ground continues successfully. We are conducting positive and coordinated efforts with Iraqi authorities and regional administration. The technical work for establishing the Joint Operations Center will also proceed without problems.

Türkiye contributes most to Syria’s territorial integrity
In response to questions about the latest situation in relations with Syria following recent statements from Damascus, ministry sources stated: “Our President has shown a will for dialogue.”
Türkiye is in Syria to neutralize terrorist attacks and threats against its territory, protect its borders, and prevent the establishment of a terrorist corridor in northern Syria, within the scope of the principle of legitimate defense, the sources added.
The sources further said that Türkiye is the country that contributes the most to Syria’s territorial integrity. Our operations have significantly contributed to the preservation of Syria’s territorial integrity.
“We desire the elimination of terrorism, the restoration of territorial integrity, the re-establishment of political stability, and for the Syrian people to live in peace and security,” the sources added.
Talks on F-16s will continue
Responding to claims about reducing the procurement of F-16s and modernization kits from the U.S., ministry sources said: “Contracts have been signed, and the details are being worked on through negotiations between the delegations. This is a multifaceted and multi-criteria process. The details that will emerge following the decisions made will be shared with the public in due course.”
Contacts with Niger
Regarding the visit to Niger by Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, ministry sources noted:
During the meetings, possibilities for advancing our cooperation with Niger were discussed, and views were exchanged on regional developments. Our Minister also discussed with his counterparts the steps that can be taken to enhance cooperation in defense and military training.
