During President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Spain on Thursday, discussions on the defense industry took center stage, becoming one of the main agenda items.

The official X account of the Republic of Türkiye’s Presidency Communications Directorate shared a post indicating that Türkiye and Spain are collaborating on joint initiatives in unmanned aerial vehicles. The post also hinted at the possibility of extending these efforts to unmanned submarines.

In posts shared on the X account, Haluk Gorgun, head of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), addressed collaborations between Spain and Türkiye.

Gorgun stated: “Through the partnerships we have developed in the defense industry with Spain, we have several strategic collaborations, including our projects such as TCG Anadolu and A400M transport aircraft. During our bilateral meetings, we laid the groundwork for a new era of mutual development in these ongoing partnerships.”

He added, “Our defense industry is now becoming a strong authority not only in our region but also globally. Seeing this reality in every international meeting we attend is extremely gratifying for us. On this occasion, I wish the Türkiye-Spain 8th Inter-Governmental Summit to be beneficial for both countries.”

Based on the statements made, it is anticipated that Türkiye and Spain will enhance their cooperation in the defense industry sector in the near future.
