Turkey and Somalia strengthen bilateral ties with defense, economic cooperation agreement

Turkey and Somalia’s defense ministers signed a defense and economic cooperation agreement aimed at boosting bilateral relations and regional stability.

During the visit of Somali Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur to Ankara, both sides engaged in discussions and oversaw the signing of the agreement.

Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler emphasized Somalia’s importance as a partner in Africa and highlighted the significance of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Nur praised the strengthening of ties between the two countries since Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit in 2011 and highlighted the agreement’s focus on counterterrorism efforts and military-financial cooperation.
