Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc has provided an update on the extradition process of Serdar Sertcelik, who fled abroad while serving as a secret witness in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan case. Minister Tunc confirmed that Türkiye has submitted the necessary documents to the Hungarian authorities to request Sertcelik’s extradition on criminal charges.

Serdar Sertcelik, previously a secret witness in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan organized crime syndicate case, fled abroad, prompting Türkiye to forward the essential documents to Hungarian authorities for his extradition.

Serdar Sertcelik previously was apprehended on May 25, 2024, while attempting to enter through the Roszke Border Gate using a forged Georgian passport and assuming the identity of Simeon Nikos.

Despite being electronically tagged on November 27, 2023, as part of the Ayhan Bora Kaplan organized crime case, Sertcelik was discovered to have absconded overseas.
