Türkiye is taking action based on rumors of increased weapon deployments on specific Aegean islands in response to the United States converting Crete and Alexandroupoli into armament depots.

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense plans to establish the 16th Main Jet Base Command in Dalaman, Mugla, and an Amphibious Corps in Canakkale. According to the Ministry, Dalaman Air Base, operational since 1985, continues to fulfill its military aviation duties effectively.

Sources confirm that the Air Force Command’s Force Structure Plan has officially approved and implemented the 16th Main Jet Base Command for 2024. Additionally, the establishment of an Amphibious Corps in Çanakkale highlights the advancement and enhancement of naval forces. This includes restructuring Marine units at the corps level and improving the deployment of amphibious assets across various regions.

The ministry has submitted retired Brigadier General Bilal Cokay to the High Disciplinary Board, who is currently on trial for his role in people smuggling at the border.
