Türkiye rejects displacement of Palestinians, urges immediate ceasefire in Gaza

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Friday that Türkiye rejects any plans aimed at forcing Palestinians to leave their homeland and called on Israel to declare an immediate ceasefire.
His remarks followed a ministerial meeting held under the theme “Two-State Solution and Lasting Peace in the Middle East,” organized jointly by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League.

Türkiye opposes Palestinian displacement
Speaking at a joint press conference after the committee meeting, Fidan reiterated Ankara’s strong opposition to any displacement of Palestinians.
“We reject all plans aimed at forcing Palestinians to abandon their homeland,” he said, while voicing support for the Arab League’s Gaza reconstruction initiative. “We back the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.”
FM Fidan also recently stated, “We oppose all initiatives that aim to exclude the people of Gaza from the equation. Even bringing such an idea to the table is unacceptable.”

Support for ceasefire and humanitarian access
Fidan called for urgent efforts to reestablish a ceasefire in Gaza and expressed support for the negotiation process led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States.
He emphasized the need for uninterrupted humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza and urged the international community to contribute to peace efforts.
“Permanent ceasefire must be established without delay,” Fidan said. “We call on the international community to extend full support for peace.”

Fidan: Palestinians have not abandoned their cause
Fidan criticized the ongoing violence and accused Israel’s actions of destabilizing the region and undermining global legal norms. “Eighty years of violence has failed to force Palestinians to give up their homeland,” he said.
“They have not abandoned their cause, and we are confident they will live in peace under their own state,” he added.
The minister underscored that a two-state solution would ensure not only justice for Palestinians but also security for Israel. “We urge Israel to declare a ceasefire and move toward peace with the Palestinians,” he added.
Ankara to continue advocating for Palestinian rights
Fidan affirmed that Türkiye would continue to raise the issue of Palestine at all international forums. He noted that multiple sessions dedicated to Palestine would take place at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum later in the day.
