Türkiye plans high-speed rail to cut Ankara-Istanbul travel to 80 minutes

Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, announced plans for a new super high-speed train that will drastically reduce travel time between the country’s two largest cities.
Speaking during a live broadcast on NTV, Uraloglu revealed that the journey between Istanbul and Ankara will be cut to just 80 minutes once the project is completed.
“The train, which will travel at 350 kilometers per hour, will reduce the transportation time between Ankara and Istanbul to 80 minutes,” Uraloglu said.
The minister’s announcement came as part of a broader discussion about Türkiye’s transportation projects and digital infrastructure developments.
The current high-speed rail service between the two cities, which are approximately 450 kilometers (280 miles) apart, takes over four hours, making this new project a significant upgrade to the country’s transportation network.
