Türkiye expands defense ties with UAE’s Calidus through aerospace agreement

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) and UAE-based Calidus Aerospace signed a memorandum of understanding at the IDEX 2025 defense exhibition on Monday, marking a significant step in defense collaboration between the two countries.
The agreement, witnessed by Turkish Defense Industry President Haluk Gorgun, aims to enhance technology transfer, production capabilities, and cooperation opportunities in the aviation and defense sectors.
“This agreement will bring new momentum to our sector by increasing technology transfer, production capabilities, and cooperation opportunities in aviation and defense,” Görgün said during the signing ceremony.
The collaboration comes amid Türkiye’s expanding presence in the global defense market. During the exhibition, Gorgun visited the displays of major Turkish defense manufacturers including ASSAN Group, BMC, ROKETSAN, Nurol Makine, ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, and FNSS, showcasing the country’s latest military technologies.
Malaysian defense minister visits Turkish defense industry stands
In a parallel development at IDEX 2025, Malaysian Defense Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Malaysian Chief of Defense Forces General Tan Sri Bin Jantan met with Turkish defense officials to discuss strategic projects and joint development opportunities.
This meeting follows the comprehensive cooperation agreements signed between Türkiye and Malaysia on February 11, when President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim oversaw the signing of 11 bilateral agreements.
“We continue to deepen our global partnerships in the defense industry through strong collaborations and high-technology focused projects,” the Turkish Defense Industry Presidency stated in their announcement.
