Türkiye detains 89 irregular migrants in multiple operations

A total of 89 irregular migrants were rescued and captured in various regions of Türkiye on April 7 and 8, 2025.
The operations were carried out in Marmaris, Bodrum, Erzincan, Edirne, Kirklareli, and Amasya. Here are the details:
27 irregular migrants rescued off Marmaris Coast
On April 7, 2025, Turkish Coast Guard teams responded to reports of irregular migrants stranded in two life rafts off the coast of Marmaris. The migrants, including 10 children, were pushed into Turkish waters by Greek forces.
The Coast Guard successfully rescued the 27 migrants and handed them over to the Provincial Migration Management for further processing.

23 irregular migrants detained in Bodrum
On the same day, 23 irregular migrants were apprehended in Bodrum, Mugla. The migrants, including eight children, were detected by the Coast Guard’s Mobile Radar System.
The Coast Guard boat and diving team were dispatched to the area and carried out the operation. Two suspects, believed to be human traffickers, were arrested. The foreign nationals were handed over to the Provincial Migration Management for processing.
14 irregular migrants detained in Erzincan
In Erzincan, 14 irregular migrants were caught in a vehicle. The operation was carried out by the Migrant Smuggling and Border Gates Branch teams.
The migrants, who had illegally entered Türkiye, were detained, and their identity checks were conducted.
The suspected human trafficker, identified as A.K., was arrested and later detained by the court.
20 irregular migrants apprehended in Edirne and Kirklareli
On April 8, 2025, 20 irregular migrants were caught in Edirne and Kirklareli. In Edirne, 11 migrants were apprehended by security forces during ongoing efforts to combat irregular migration. The migrants were sent to the Provincial Migration Management for processing.
In Kirklareli, the Gendarmerie forces arrested 9 migrants in the Kofcaz district. They were transferred to the Pehlivanköy Removal Center.
5 irregular migrants found in trucks in Amasya
Amasya authorities discovered 5 irregular migrants hidden in the cargo section of two trucks transporting live animals.
The trucks were stopped in the Taşova district, and the migrants, who were identified as Afghan nationals, were detained.
The migrants were sent to the Provincial Migration Management for deportation procedures, while the truck drivers were taken into custody.
