Türkiye denies role in Syrian developments, reaffirms fight against terrorism
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense has firmly denied any involvement, encouragement, or support in the recent developments in Syria, stressing that the PKK/YPG terrorist organization will not be allowed to exploit the region’s instability.
Rear Admiral Zeki Akturk, press and public relations advisor for the ministry addressed the situation, focusing on activities initiated by opposition groups in the Aleppo region. He stated that Türkiye is closely monitoring these developments as part of its commitment to Syria’s territorial integrity, unity, and the fight against terrorism.
Akturk noted that Turkish forces have taken all necessary measures to maintain stability and emphasized ongoing collaboration with regional counterparts since the onset of the situation.
“The recent developments are rooted in unresolved, long-standing issues within Syria, particularly the opposition’s demands and the regime’s failure to address them,” Akturk said.
He reaffirmed Türkiye’s adherence to agreements regarding northern Syria’s operational areas, calling on all parties to uphold their commitments. Akturk reiterated Türkiye’s unwavering support for Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
“We will not allow the PKK/YPG terrorist organization to benefit from instability in the region,” he added.
Akturk emphasized Türkiye’s clear and consistent stance against all forms of terrorism, highlighting its dedication to ensuring regional security and stability.
This statement underscores Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to promote peace, address complex dynamics in the region, uphold international agreements and combat terrorism.
