Türkiye strongly condemned Israel’s repeated attacks on the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), accusing the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of aiming to extend its occupation into Lebanon.

In a statement on Sunday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry criticized Israel’s actions, stating, “Israel’s regular attacks on UNIFIL are proof that the Netanyahu government is pursuing an occupation policy toward Lebanon and is ready to use weapons under any circumstances.”

The ministry emphasized the critical importance of UNIFIL’s mission to maintain regional security, warning that these attacks jeopardize peace efforts.

“Each member of the UN Security Council is obliged to prevent Israeli attacks against the U.N. forces they have personally mandated,” the statement added, urging a united international stance against Israel and the countries supplying it with arms.

The criticism follows an increase in cross-border violence between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, raising concerns of a broader conflict in the region.
