Türkiye condemned Israel’s raid on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday, describing the action as a dangerous escalation in the region.

“Netanyahu’s accomplices have taken a dangerous step aimed at further escalating tensions in the region,” Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

The ministry also criticized the Netanyahu government’s recent statements on expanding military operations in Gaza and continuing illegal settlements in the West Bank, calling Israel’s actions a “blatant disregard” for international law and a lack of commitment to peace.

“The international community must act decisively to safeguard holy sites, prevent further escalations, and stop Israel’s efforts to expand its territory through occupation,” the ministry added.

Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, along with illegal settlers, forced his way into the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday, marking a new provocation amid the ongoing war on Gaza.
