U.S. Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass held a series of meetings, notably with Turkish Foreign Ministry officials. During this session, both sides engaged in discussions, with Ankara outlining its expectations in a detailed two-page document comprising around 25 points. Bass also served as U.S. Amasaddor to Türkiye from 2014 to 2017.

In the document, Türkiye requested that the U.S. cease its support for the terrorist organization PKK/YPG. The document stated that U.S. support for the PKK/YPG was a threat to Türkiye and called for an end to the training provided to the terrorist organization.

Additionally, the document emphasized that Syria’s oil revenues should benefit the Syrian people, pointing out that the U.S. has been using these revenues to finance the terrorist organization. Türkiye demanded that this source of financing be cut off.
