Türkiye arrests 164 Daesh suspects in nationwide counterterrorism operations

Turkish security forces arrested 164 Daesh suspects in counterterrorism operations conducted across 21 provinces over the past week, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced.

Nationwide counterterrorism operation against Daesh

Yerlikaya shared details of the “Gurz-44” operations via social media, emphasizing Türkiye’s commitment to eliminating terrorist threats.

“Our social solidarity and common values ​​are one of the most effective defense mechanisms in preventing the spread of terrorism. We are determined to eradicate terrorism from our country with an all-out fight,” Yerlikaya stated.

The operations were carried out in Adana, Amasya, Antalya, Artvin, Balikesir, Batman, Burdur, Bursa, Corum, Erzincan, Eskisehir, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Konya, Malatya, Mersin, Nevsehir, Sakarya, Samsun and Sanliurfa, under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Offices, the General Directorate of Security’s counterterrorism and intelligence units and provincial police departments.

Weapons and digital evidence seized

According to Yerlikaya, authorities identified the suspects as active members of the Daesh terrorist group who were involved in financing terrorist activities.

The operations led to the seizure of unregistered firearms, rifles, and a significant amount of digital materials linked to terrorist activities.

Minister Yerlikaya also commended the efforts of prosecutors and law enforcement officials, acknowledging their role in executing the counterterrorism operations effectively.
