The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, labeling the act as “heinous” and a significant threat to regional peace. Turkish Foreign Ministry warns that the region will face much larger conflicts if the international community does not take action to stop Israel.

The anti-peace stance of Netanyahu

The Ministry emphasized that the attack underscores the Netanyahu government’s lack of intent to pursue peace, further exacerbating tensions in the Middle East. The ministry further warned that this attack could be part of a broader strategy to expand the conflict in Gaza to a regional level.

Details of the assassination

Ismail Haniyeh, who led the political bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, was assassinated in Tehran, along with one of his bodyguards. The incident occurred at Haniyeh’s residence in the Iranian capital, where he was attending the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards reported the assassination, which has sparked outrage and calls for revenge within the Hamas organization.
