Social media influencer Jahrein detained over obscene speech

Ahmet Sonuc, known as “Jahrein” and a prominent social media influencer in Türkiye, has been detained following a live stream on Twitch.

The Antalya Police Department announced on its official Twitter account that the user “Jahrein” had been identified as Ahmet Sonuc (A.S.). The statement noted, “It was observed that the user, known by the alias ‘Jahrein’ on the Twitch platform, engaged in conversations containing obscene content during a live broadcast.

Following an investigation, it was determined that the individual behind the alias is Ahmet Sonuc (A.S.). On September 12, 2024, our Cyber Crime Division detained the individual, and proceedings have been initiated under Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code for obscenity.”

Jahrein, born on November 29, 1988, is 36 years old. He is the son of a Cypriot-Turkish gynecologist father and a mother from Burdur, who is a nurse. He completed his primary education in Karabuk before moving to Antalya for secondary school. He graduated from Antalya Anatolian High School and later studied Molecular Physics and Biochemistry at Leipzig University.
