Türkiye detains seven suspects for allegedly selling information to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, highlighting concerns over national security and espionage activities

In a joint operation carried out by the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the Istanbul Police Department, seven individuals were detained for allegedly selling information to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad.

According to security sources, the operation targeted suspects believed to have sold information to Mossad.

The operation, conducted by MIT and the Istanbul Police Department’s Counterterrorism Branch, resulted in the arrest of seven suspects.

It was revealed that one of the suspects, former public servant Hamza Turhan Ayberk, who appeared on morning programs on television, was in contact with Mossad through the agent “Victoria.”

MIT determined that Ayberk, who was engaged in private detective work, was leaking information to Mossad in exchange for money.

It was further discovered that Ayberk, upon receiving instructions, gathered information about Middle Eastern individuals and companies in Türkiye.

Use of encrypted communication apps

Ayberk, who reportedly received training from Mossad in Belgrade in 2019, was initially used by the Israeli intelligence agency for minor tasks.

While working under Mossad’s direction, Ayberk used encrypted communication applications to avoid detection in official records.

To prevent traceability, he also received payments for his services in cryptocurrency.

Aside from leaking information, Ayberk was involved in threatening and tracking activities. It was found that he installed monitoring devices on the vehicles of targeted individuals, transmitting their locations to Mossad in real time. He harassed these individuals and occasionally issued threats.

The joint operation highlighted Türkiye’s commitment to combating espionage and protecting national security interests.

The detained individuals are currently under investigation for their alleged involvement in selling sensitive information to a foreign intelligence agency.

This development served as a reminder of the vigilance required in safeguarding national security and preventing unauthorized disclosures of confidential information.
