Turkish Red Crescent’s Eid al-Adha Campaign reaches Iraq, Niger, and Bosnia
Turkish Red Crescent, which reached 128,000 shares of sacrificial animals within the framework of the traditional proxy slaughter campaign, has started sacrificial animal slaughters domestically and in 19 countries.
According to a statement made by the Turkish Red Crescent, within the scope of the campaign conducted under the slogan “If you keep the blessings of sacrifice alive all year, let Türkiye shine,” the association received 128,000 shares of sacrificial animals on behalf of proxies.
Following the holiday prayer, the Red Crescent initiated sacrificial animal slaughters not only in Türkiye but also in 19 countries across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans.
Proxy owners who perform the sacrifice ritual through the Turkish Red Crescent receive instant information about the sacrificial animals slaughtered on their behalf, and the slaughter process is also recorded on video. Religious officials, veterinarians, and notaries accompany the slaughters conducted during the first three days of the holiday.
With the goal is to reach 3.8 million beneficiaries targeting to reach approximately 3.8 million people in need with sacrificial animals slaughtered on behalf of proxies, the Red Crescent will turn the shares obtained from domestic slaughters into canned meats to be distributed to people in need throughout the year.
The Red Crescent will distribute most of the canned meats to families affected by earthquakes this year. These canned meats will also reach people in need as hot meals at Red Crescent soup kitchens nationwide.
The meat of sacrificial animals slaughtered abroad will be distributed to people in need immediately while maintaining the cold chain.
400,000 canned meats will be delivered to Gaza this year, the Red Crescent has made special arrangements for Gazans and will prepare long-lasting canned meats for the region where delays in aid deliveries have been experienced.
The Gaza leg of the sacrificial animal campaign has been expanded due to the intense interest of benefactors. Approximately 400,000 canned meats prepared from shares of sacrificial animals slaughtered in Türkiye will be delivered to Gaza via mercy ships.
Turkish Red Crescent distributed sacrificial animal meat to families in need in Mosul, Iraq
The Turkish Red Crescent’s distribution of sacrificial animal meat in Mosul was attended by Türkiye’s Consul General in Mosul, Serhad Varli and Turkish Red Crescent Iraq Delegation President Çetin Bayatli.
A total of 740 bags of meat were distributed to families in need in the city due to the holiday.
The Turkish Red Crescent is also distributing sacrificial animal meat to people in need in various regions of Iraq as per the holiday.
The Turkish Red Crescent Iraq Delegation previously conducted 50 cattle sacrifices in Erbil as per the holiday.
Turkish Red Crescent slaughtered 2,725 cattle on behalf of proxies in Niger as part of sacrificial animal program
Emrah Gokturk, coordinator of the Turkish Red Crescent in Niger, stated that they organized a proxy slaughter event in Africa, particularly in Niger, the third poorest country in the world, where they completed the slaughter of 2,725 cattle in four regions, totaling 19,075 shares.
Gokturk mentioned that meat of the slaughtered animals were distributed to people in need in Niger after processing, and donors were informed of the slaughter through direct messaging simultaneously.
Gokturk thanked everyone who donated to the Turkish Red Crescent and noted that they successfully completed this operation under the supervision of veterinarians and religious officials.
Highlighting that the Turkish Red Crescent conducts sacrificial animal slaughters in many countries around the world, Gokturk also explained that they carry out these organizations with volunteers.
Gokturk expressed the joy of delivering the sacrificial animals to people in need and thanked volunteers who did not leave them and the people of Niger alone.
Oguzhan Balci, a board member of the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Red Crescent, stated that they participated as Youth Red Crescent volunteers in Niger within the scope of the sacrificial animal organization and emphasized that they slaughtered all sacrificial animals in accordance with Islamic principles.
Balci also mentioned that they distributed meat to the local population alongside the slaughter and expressed their happiness in seeing smiles and joy on the faces of the people of Niger.
Turkish Red Crescent and Türkiye’s Religious Affairs Foundation distributed sacrificial animal meat to people in need in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The meat of 50 cattle slaughtered by the Turkish Red Crescent were delivered to families in need in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Deputy Chairman Yusuf Ramazan Saygili of the Turkish Red Crescent also participated in the distribution of sacrificial animal meat in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Saygili expressed their satisfaction in delivering sacrificial animal meat to families in need in Bosnia and Herzegovina and stated that within the campaign conducted this year under the slogan “If you keep the blessings of sacrifice alive all year, let Türkiye shine,” the Turkish Red Crescent obtained 128,000 shares of sacrificial animals on behalf of proxies.
As part of the 2024 Proxy Sacrifice Program of TDV, sacrificial animals in Bosnia and Herzegovina were slaughtered in Sarajevo, as well as Visoko, Zenica, Doboj, Zepce, Banja Luka, and Prnjavor under the supervision of the Religious Services Counsellor of the Sarajevo Embassy.
Religious Services Counsellor Mustafa Guvenc mentioned that TDV, as it does every year, conducted the sacrificial animal activity this year without any problems, especially in earthquake zones both domestically and abroad.
Guvenc emphasized they delivered sacrificial animal meat to people in need throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina within the program and stated, “Our biggest goal is to deliver the trust of our people.”
Turkish Red Crescent distributed sacrificial animal meat to people in need in Kirkuk, Iraq
Cetin Bayatli, President of the Turkish Red Crescent Iraq Delegation, stated in a statement to Anadolu Agency that they distributed sacrificial animal meat in Kirkuk within the framework of the Turkish Red Crescent’s 2024 Proxy Sacrifice Program.
Bayatli mentioned that they provided sacrificial animal meat to 250 families in need in various parts of Kirkuk.
Bayatli emphasized aid work was coordinated with the Iraq Red Crescent, and they fulfilled their distribution duty in accordance with the list determined by the Iraq Red Crescent.
